How to Switch Facebook Accounts in a Web Browser
The ability to switch between various Facebook profiles (personal, business, etc.) isn’t a hassle, but you might first need to manually log into a different account. Here’s how to make it functional.
Alternate accounts must first be connected before you may avoid logging out again.
-
From Facebook.com, click your profile image in the top-right corner of the screen (next to the Notifications bell).
-
Click Log Out to return to the Facebook login page.
-
From the login page, click Add Account.
-
Follow the steps to sign in to your alternate account to connect it to your browser login to make future switching easier.
-
If you already have an alternate account tied to your browser, click a profile image and then See All Profiles > Switch accounts to change to a different connected account.
-
If asked, enter the account’s associated password when prompted, or select the correct entry if you have your passwords stored in your browser.
How to Switch Facebook Accounts in the iOS App
You may link numerous accounts to your Facebook app, just like on a browser, although doing so will involve some initial setup. But keep in mind that using the app to switch between accounts is a little more complicated than using the web version because it doesn’t support the Switch Account feature.
You will still need to manually join any additional accounts that are currently connected using a web browser to the mobile app.
-
In the app, tap Menu in the bottom-left corner of the screen, scroll down to the bottom of the menu and tap Log out.
-
Tap Log out to confirm.
-
From the app’s login screen, tap Log into another account (just below the gear icon).
-
Follow the necessary steps to sign in to your other Facebook account and tap login.
-
When you want to switch between accounts now, tap Menu > Log out like before, then choose the account you want to switch to from the login screen.
How to Disconnect an Alternate Account
You can take an account out of your rotation if, for any reason, you no longer wish to be able to rapidly switch to that account. The relationship with your previous accounts will only be removed, not the Facebook account itself, so switching accounts is no longer an option.
-
In your browser, select your profile image, and then See All Profiles > Switch accounts > X next to the account you want to remove > Remove Account.
-
Click Remove Account, then click Remove Account to confirm.
-
In the app, tap Menu > Log out > Log out to return to the login screen.
On Android it’s Menu > Log out > three-dot menu > Remove account from the device.
-
Tap the gear icon, then tap the account you want to remove.
-
Tap Remove account to remove it from your account login options.
